Cranius Kang is a major antagonist in the television series The New Legends of Monkey. He is portrayed by Joel Tobeck.

Season 2[]
Graveyard of the Gods[]
The demon lords meet. It has been 500 years since their last meeting, but the Monkey King has returned. Cranius explains that before Monkey was imprisoned, the demons cowered at his name. Kimura arrives and reports that the Monkey King escaped with the Sacred Scroll of Immortality. Gorm blames Kimura for allowing Monkey to escape. He asks Khan, Dreglon, Cranius, Mothrax, and Tsumori to bow before him, but they refuse. Demons have not unified under one leader since the Demon Queen Hakuru because it’s harder to cut off seven heads. Khan then orders that they send word out to find the Monkey King.
Quest for Knowledge[]
After infiltrating the Infinite Archive as a fly, Mothrax reports her findings that the Monkey King is searching for the Sacred Scroll of Knowledge. Cranius asks that the demon council grant him the permission to claim the scroll. As Khan and Dreglon fight over dominance, Cranius prepares to leave for the archive.
Cranius arrives at the Archive. Scribe warns him to leave, but he refuses. As Scribe calculates his attack, Cranius reveals that he can read the language of the gods. He then counters Scribes attack and kills him with a fireball. Not far off, a young boy named Kaedo Zef watches whilst remaining hidden.
Cranius has traveled further into the Archive. He’s very aware of how to strike down the warriors, doing it within seconds, much to the Librarian’s disbelief. He then joins Monkey, Tripitaka, Sandy, and Pigsy and reveals the answer to the riddle of the peach. The Librarian forbids Monkey from killing Cranius as much like them, he’s merely a seeker of knowledge. She takes them to the closed reserve. The Librarian tells them that only three of them can face the final challenge along with Cranius. They chose Monkey to face off with Cranius. The final riddle: "The Scroll of Knowledge is in this very room. Take the wrong one home and your head goes boom."
While Cranius searches, Monkey is only interested in his reflection from the mirror scroll. Cranius believes that the Scroll of Knowledge is the blank scroll and leaves with it. Sandy and Pigsy attack, but he predicts their move, knocking them down, as well as Tripitaka.
Cranius returns to the Broken Temple with what he believed to be the Scroll of Knowledge. Having chosen the wrong scroll, his head bursts open as a consequence.
Village of Lost Children[]
As Cranius slowly recovers from his injury, the demon lords discuss how Monkey has ventured north and reached the Rivertowns, which belong to Tsumori.
Puppet Master[]
The demon lords gather to discuss Monkey as he journeys to the Valley of Despair. With Khan’s army unprepared, Gorm is ready to kill the Monkey King himself and become the one true demon king.
Finding Paradise[]
Cranius feast in the hall with the demon lords.
The Spider Web[]
Dreglon reports to Hagfish on how the Scroll of Creation has empowered the rebellion. Cranius stands at Hagfish’s side, unable to fully communicate every since his head was blown up.
Shadow Boxing[]
Gorm returns with Monica, who removes the pins. As she attempts to remove the final pin, Gorm kills her. With a single pin remaining in Gorm, Cranius decides to remove it. Gorm is free of his control.
Powers and Skills[]
- Longevity: As a demon, he can live to 600 years.
- Supernatural Intelligence: Cranius is possible the smartest being on the planet, as he stated to a guardian. He was able to easily pass The Librarian's challenges in a matter of seconds, and. gave complex lectures on the scrolls. But even his intelligence wasn't enough for him to receive the scroll.
Weaknesses[]
- Mortality: As a demon, he can still be killed.
