Hagfish is a major antagonist in the television series The New Legends of Monkey. He is portrayed by Simon Prast.

Centuries ago, Hagfish served alongside Demon Queen Hakuru until she was killed by Monkey.
Season 2[]
Graveyard of the Gods[]
Hagfish attends the demon lord meeting at Gorm's side. He speaks out of term and Gorm tells him to mind his tongue.
Puppet Master[]
Hagfish, Gorm, and Mothrax track Monkey and his crew. As Mothrax escapes with the sacred scrolls she stile from Monkey, Hagfish trips her and binds her with rope. Monkey, Tripitaka, Sandy, Kaedo, and Pigsy arrive, and Hagfish pretends to be a helpless victim. He claims that he’s a puppeteer who only desires to create a puppet show about a legendary hero such as Monkey. He then offers to lead them to the road.
Whilst every sleep, Hagfish takes Monkey’s staff from his hair and replaces it with a replica. He then tries to stab Monkey in the neck with a pin but it breaks, so he turns his attention to Tripitaka and stabs her with the pin, transferring her soul into a Tripitaka puppet, thus allowing him to gain control of Tripitaka’s body.
Tripitaka awakens Monkey, Sandy, Pigsy from their sleep to inform them the scrolls are missing. Pigsy suspects it’s Hagfish, but he controls Tripitaka into saying that it was Kaedo who stole the scrolls. They find the scrolls under his pillow and force him to leave. However, Pigsy’s suspicion of Hagfish grows.
Hagfish uses Tripitaka to ask the Scroll of Knowledge how to puppet a god and how to create his own god for evil. She reveals that he would need the Scroll of Creation. They come to a crossroads. Pigsy would like to part ways with Hagfish, but Tripitaka comes to his offense and tells Pigsy to clear obstacles ahead. Monkey and Sandy are unsure of what to do and start to suspect that Pigsy is right and that Tripitaka isn’t herself. They ask Tripitaka about the scrolls, but she hasn’t a clue what they’re referring to as she’s being controlled by Hagfish, who then notices Kaedo watching them and claims that he’s after the scroll.
Hagfish in the process of killing Tripitaka as she no longer serves a purpose. Kaedo throws a ninja star in Hagfish’s chest and knocks him to the ground. As Kaedo helps Tripitaka up, Hagfish makes her stab him with the Fangkris blade. Kaedo is poisoned and falls unconscious, but not before removing the pin from Tripitaka’s neck, thus giving her full control of herself. Monkey and Sandy return. Gorm arrives soon thereafter with Pigsy, who is barely conscious. A battle occurs. Tripitaka uses Mothrax' love gas, forcing Gorm and Hagfish to flee with the scrolls.
Finding Paradise[]
The demon lords feast in the hall. Khan wonders if it was their Demon Queen Hakuru who gave the throne power or the throne that gave her power. Hagfish encourages Khan to take a seat on the throne. Dreglon pushes past the two of them and sits on the throne. Gorm returns and Dreglon pees himself. Gorm has come with the sacred scrolls and tells them to bow down to him.
General Khan and Dreglon are both willing to lead their men into battle for Gorm, but he tells both of them to leave and not to return without a real army. Hagfish informs Gorm of the Scroll of Creation and how it can be used to summon a real army.
Masterchef[]
Gorm demands to know where to find the Monkey King. A farmhand claims that he heard that Monkey led a rebellion against Kimura. Hagfish asks the Scroll of Knowledge where to find the human rebels that killed Kimura, but he can’t make sense of the answers the scroll provides. The farmhand then reveals that the rebellion can be found at Lion Heart Rock. So Gorm orders Mothrax to deliver a message to General Khan regarding an attack.
Just as she realizes that Hagfish is controlling Gorm, Hagfish recognizes Tripitaka and commands Gorm to kill her. Tripitaka runs out the tent and regroups with Sandy and Monkey. She reunites Monkey with his staff and he combats Gorm. Mothrax finds Hagfish in some kind of trance and awakens him. He claims that he was having a seizure but that he’s fine now. This allows Monkey to defeat Gorm.
The Spider Web[]
Dreglon reports to Hagfish on how the Scroll of Creation has empowered the rebellion. Cranius stands at Hagfish’s, unable to fully communicate every since his head was blown up. When Dreglon reveals that the monk told him to come, Hagfish realizes that he’s led the rebellion to them. Hagfish pulls a doll of Dreglon from his collection. Mothrax then kicks Dreglon towards Hagfish, who stabs him in the back of the neck with a pin.
Monkey confronts Hagfish and demands that he hand over the sacred scrolls. Monkey proposes a swap; the Scroll of Creation in exchange for the Scrolls of Immortality and Knowledge. Monkey keeps him distracted while Tripitaka sneaks over to the box with all of the puppets inside. Hagfish approaches Monkey and agrees to his proposition. However, he double crosses Monkey and orders his men to attack. After dispatching the guards, Monkey kills Dreglon. However, Hagfish then uses the Scroll of Creation to bind Monkey and Tripitaka with ropes. Pigsy attempts to distract Hagfish long enough for Sandy to grab the scrolls, but they fail as well.
Hagfish intends to create an evil god. He lowers Monkey down and takes a lock of hair. He attaches the hair to a Monkey doll and places the doll inside a barrel of black goo in hopes of creating an evil version of Monkey with the corrupt Scroll of Creation. Gorm returns with Monica in hand. Monkey kicks him to the ground and Monica removes the pins. Gorm kills her before she can remove the final pin. With a single pin remaining in Gorm, Cranius decides to remove it. Gorm is free of his control. For 500 years, Hagfish controlled him, and he intends to make him pay for it. Shadow Monkey and kills Gorm.
Shadow Boxing[]
Hagfish tells the story of how centuries ago, he was the right hand of the Demon Queen Hakuru. Together, they were building an army of loyal servants to enslave mankind. But the Monkey King killed her. Shadow Monkey wants to meet with Monkey, who he refers to as his brother, but Hagfish doesn’t think he’s ready. When Shadow Monkey becomes insubordinate, Hagfish demonstrates how his life is connected to the shadow Scroll of Creation and forces him to obey. Hagfish then takes Shadow Monkey to attack a nearby village.
Monkey arrives on his cloud and challenges Shadow Monkey to a fight, but their moves are identical, making it impossible for there to be a winner. Shadow Monkey has grown tired of taking orders from Hagfish and tries to attack him. Hagfish uses the scroll to hurt Shadow Monkey. So Monkey comes to his aid, allowing Shadow Monkey to gain control of the scroll and kill Hagfish.
