Plot synopsis[]
With help from an unlikely ally, Monkey and Pigsy infiltrate Jade Mountain to help Tripitaka thwart the fiendish plans of demon master Davari.
Summary[]
Davari takes Tripitaka to see the gods he has acquired. He has them unknowingly translating. In their minds, they’re working in the ancient library of the gods. However, a god’s mind will always find a way to resist, whilst a human mind, much like Tripitaka’s, is much easier to manipulate.
Raxion warns Monkey and Pigsy that Davari is getting closer to translating his scroll. Raxion reveals that Davari’s weakness is that he wants to be liked. So once a week, he goes out amongst his people. His route is pre-planned. They can attack then.
The following day, Davari shows Tripitaka around town. They are interrupted by Raxion. Unbeknownst to Davari, it's a set up, with Monkey and Pigsy not far away. Monkey fires an arrow, but misses, forcing him and Pigsy to flee.
Davari sends his men off to hunt down Monkey and Pigsy and accuses Raxion of orchestrating the entire plan. Raxion blames Davari for his lack of loyalty. He never believed in him or treated him kindly. Raxion draws his sword to fight, but Davari kills him before he can finish his sentence.
Monkey and Pigsy flee from Davari’s guards. A local villager named Shamai offers them a safe haven in his shop. He introduces them to his partner, Lusio, and his sons, Silver and Oak. They’ve lived in the Jade Mountains for generations. They’re the hidden resistance and have been waiting for the return of the Monkey King.
Davari questions why Tripitaka isn’t translating the scrolls. He threatens to throw her into the abyss at the bottom of the palace should she refuse. Even as the guards lift Tripitaka by her feet and threaten to throw her over, she refuses to translate the scrolls. Davari orders his men to stop and to bring her back. Tripitaka notices that Davari is hurt, deducing that he is ill, which is why he needs her to translate the scroll. He corrects Tripitaka; he’s not ill. He’s old but would like to become immortal. Tripitaka’s refusal persisted. Instead of throwing her owner into the abyss, they throw a god over instead. Everyday she refuses to translate the scroll, another god will be thrown into the abyss. On the ground, Tripitaka finds a piece of paper.
Monkey and Pigsy discuss their next course of action and with Shamai and Lusio, who reveals that Davari is holding a banquet for the most powerful demons in the land, and they’ve been hired as musicians for the event. Shamai recalls the Scholar mentioning a monk and wants to wait, but they reveal that she’s been captured.
Sandy sits alone in the woods near a fire.
Tripitaka is taken to her cell. There, she opens up the piece of paper she found. Inside, is a lock of hair.
Monkey takes an elixir that allows him to turn invisible so that he can infiltrate Davari’s palace and rescue Tripitaka. Once inside the cell, Tripitaka reveals that she’s a girl. Tripitaka then informs Monkey that the sacred scroll Davari has will grant immortality, and if Tripitaka doesn’t translate for him, Davari will kill more gods. So she wants to stay and stop Davari from the inside.
Monkey takes the rest of the elixir and sneaks into Davari’s chamber. However, Davari is aware of his presence and forces Monkey to become visible. Monkey draws his staff and attacks Davari. However, he finds himself surrounded by Davari and his guards. So he jumps off the balcony into the abyss and grabs onto the side of the cliff. Before rejoining Pigsy, Shamai, and Lusio.
Tripitaka practices her fighting skills and then takes another look at the lock of hair she recovered.
Sandy arrives at the Jade Mountain and takes out several guards. She steals their armor in order to infiltrate the palace.
Tripitaka is handed the last piece of the scroll to translate. Lior sits right behind her. He tells Tripitaka to never stop fighting. Tripitaka takes the scroll and locks the guards inside the hall, where Lior defends the door. Just outside the door, she comes face-to-face with Davari. Unfortunately, Tripitaka has dropped the scroll. Davari offers her a chance to either run away or die fighting him for the scroll.
